My Story

Hello! My name is Marléne, and I am an artist who was born and raised in Detroit, MI. I have always had an appreciation for the arts. As a child, my aunt took me to an art supply store for the very first time, and I remember being in awe of all of the materials and possibilities that they held for creation. My passion continued to grow, and I went on to receive a Fine Arts degree with and emphasis in painting. Today, my work stems from the need to create art that is both calming and captivating for the viewer. I am inspired by the healing energy of the natural world, and hope to share it everyday through art that will live on forever.

About The Work

I have always been interested in the way that loose, emotive, and impressionistic works can bring energy and life into a painting. I also find fine details, and structured, graphic work grounds me both as an artist and a viewer. My work is the marriage of the two. I take inspiration from the natural world. Free flowing flowers and plants growing in their natural habitats transformed on the canvas with bold colors and graphic patterns and design. I explore spatial relationships through rich color and layers to combine both natural and unnatural elements in a harmonious way.
